Mine Safety and Monitoring

We provide mining companies with an efficient way to monitor activity at multiple mines from a single control center.  This leads to a safer work environment for the miners and to considerable savings for the company.

Several monitoring devices are installed at an individual mine.  These devices provide real-time data such as the location of miners and the conditions of the environment.  Video security feeds and radio communication devices are generally in place as well.  All of this data is funneled to a control room for that individual mine.

We designed and built the Safety and Monitoring (SaM™) System to collect the real-time data from individual mines and make it available at a single control center.  This allows less people to monitor a greater amount of information more efficiently.  Should an emergency incident take place, the operator at the SaM™ central command center can effectively notify responders and coordinate the appropriate response.

Effective emergency response

When an emergency incident occurs in a mine, an immediate and appropriate response is needed.  SaM™ presents relevant real-time data in a meaningful and useful form.  This arms the operator with the ammunition needed to make clear and concise decisions, thereby increasing the odds of an effective emergency response.

Automatic notifications can be configured to be delivered to responders over various communication devices.  Cell phones can be automatically called.  Pagers can be automatically dialed.  Emails can be automatically sent.  Key figures can be patched together using different communication devices.  This allows vital resources to be quickly added and then removed when no longer necessary.

Economically comply with regulations

Government regulations mandate that a communication center be monitored at all times miners are underground.  There is currently a full time certified position required to operate the communication center for a single mine.  With the implementation of the SaM™ System, these positions at each mine can be consolidated into a single position operating the center in control over multiple mines.

The consolidation of positions isn't the only way the mining company can financially benefit, though.  SaM™ generates a long term cost savings from the improved operational efficiency it provides.  The company will also be subject to less liability thanks to the better emergency response and communication that is in place.
